1980 Bronco, 351M. Had headers on it when I got it, they're now junk. I dont know what brand they are, doesnt matter. Well I try Summit brand and they dont list any to fit my year, only 78-79 w/351m/400. Question is, will they fit my truck? Obviously they'd fit the motor, but what about the frame? I know 80 is a big body style/frame change, but will the headers clear the frame or not? No one can tell me! Its aggravating really, I NEED new headers, but I dont want to spend a lot. I can get some to fit for like 140 bucks, but summit brand is only 80 bucks. Please Help!
My guess would be if there are different part numbers between the wo headers you are looking at and they don't cross reference then they may not fit. There's a reason the other headers are $140 becuase they need to fit your chassis. Just a guess so don't take my word.
I would look into hedman or hooker headers. summit headers tend to be rejects from major brands that cant sell them. were the headers that came on the motor long tube or shorties?
The ones on there now are long tube, which makes it real easy to hook up exhaust to, no extra bends in the pipe. Hedman and Hooker have some but they are pricey. Dynomax and Flowtech both have some for $120, so I guess that's what I'll be getting.
i would stick with long tubes otherwise you will need your exhaust redone so it bolts to the shorties. Flowtechs are nice not sure about dynomax though.
I know, I wanted long tubes again. I went to town today and Advance Auto parts had Flowtech and Dynomax. I got the Flowtech's for $118 after tax. They'll be in tomorrow. I can't wait!
righton, well take some pics of the headers and your install. be sure to get some really really good gaskets and plan on changing your plugs while your in there it makes things much easier.
