I thought i read somewhere that there were so many cases of them breaking, there SHOULD be a tsb, and the person was gonna look around to see what he could find, not sure what he found though
there should be a tsb on them, who on this web site owns a ranger with the armrest in perfect working order? the lid on mine is cracked, and the tab that holds it down is broke, so it latches but theres like a 1 inch gap between the lid and the bottom
I have a '99 with 60/40 seats and the arm rest is perfect. It latches correctly and the lid is fine. I have noticed that the lid doesn't seem to be very strong but it hasn't broken.
I am in the process of replacing my seats with Explorer leather seats and an Explorer center console and overhead console however so I'll have a new console anyway.

on my 99 it latches good and everything but it is really weak. If i put something in there where it wont close all the way it bends and seems like its going to break, but its still holdin on for now.
That's odd. I guess I could see mine breaking easily, but it still functions like new. I think there are a few in the local junkyard if anyone wants a replacement.
yeah, your trucks are 5-6 years old, just wait a couple more when they start getting brittle, haha, mine still closes, so i wont worry about it, but one thing that bugs me the most is that the plastic covering on the passenger side is cracked and busting off, i wonder how much new ones of those are...
