Question Ranger bed removal

I would like to remove the bed from my 94 Ranger to work on rust removal from the frame. Could anyone tell me how much the bed weighs and the best way to lift it off?

Thanks

George

I don't think those are real heavy. 4 guys can lift the bed; one on each corner. Take the tailgate off. Make sure all the wires are disconnected and soak the bolts a couple of days with penetrating oil before you try to take them out.

I took my bed off with my 5' 100 lb wife and 16yo daughter. It's not heavy, just a little bulky. We had milk crates ready on the ground behind the truck so the paint on the bottom wouldn't get scratched. 2 plugs under the tailgate, 6 bolts in the bed and one hose clamp on the gas tank filler, and then lift. Putting it back was easy as well, I thought it would be a pain to replace but it lined right up.

I little trick I learned when taking the bed off was to put reference marks on the bootom of the bd in reation to the frame. It makes it easy to line the bed to the bolts. Also look for som rubber mounts to put between the frame and the bed. Helps make te bed less noisy wen off road.
