I currently have a 2000 f2504 door 4x4 longbed W/v10. I just bought a 23' toy hauler "I NEED MORE POWER" has anybody tryed a wipple charger? or should i buy a diesel
russbuss, what rear gear do you have? 3.73 or 4.30. If you have a 3.73 change to 4.30. This will help your towing more than any bolt-on short of a turbo or sc. I tow a 24" box loaded 9200lbs without any problems.
I was thinking about changing gears on my 1 ton SRW what axles do I have? I had a dodge that I had 4.10's installed on, from 3.55's I guess I didn't feel that it made a big difference. Would it make a real difference going from 3.73 to 4.30 with the v10? I just bought it and plan on towing my 5th wheel (6300 lbs dry-8300 lbs loaded) do you think that I will need to do a gear swap?
also some of the other also mentioned ideas are GREAT (headers especially for some good additional torque).
there are a few guys here running superchargers (rottn comes to mind, but there are others)... they can provide the best info if a supercharger will help or not (really, will it be worth the cash for your needs).
a diesel certainly would not be a bad choice.... but you might be able to get your V10 up to your needs if you don't do too much towing.
I orderd my f 250 w4.30 limited slip. im excited to see the new harley addition comming out in 04 but have not maid up my mind yet thanks for the imput

The 6.0 will do you a better job then a V10 with a blower. Blown engines make poor towing machines as they require premium fuel, carefull tuning to avoid excessive temperatures and generally lots of $. I run a V10 6 speed with 4.30's and can't imagine needing more power for towing. I pull a 5k pound trailer with ease up the mountains of BC and the western US.
Why do you need more power? Will the truck not pull hills? Not maintain highway speed? I am just curious. I have a 36ft race trailer with living quarters. I pull it with my '99 v10 4x4. I can't hold overdrive with my 3.73, but drive will pull it as fast as I am willing to go.
