I have a 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty PowerStroke diesel truck.
We drive it probably about once a week. Here lately...when we drive it...the brakes feel like they are locking up at all four wheels.
The engine also has to work harder to try and pull the truck because of the brakes locking up. Also...when I stop the brakes smell like they are very hot.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what is wrong with my truck.
Thanks
Had that problem recently. Took it in to my mechanic and found that one of my axle seals was shot. Oil got all over the brake pads causing them to grab the rotor. Had this same thing happen to a Chev 3/4 of mine also. This may not be your problem as mine were locking up at the slightest touch of the brake petal and not all the time. But it's one thing to consider should you experience a similar problem in the future. One thing I would do if I were you is get it looked at by a mechanic ASAP. Hot brakes are not a good thing and warped rotors on a powerstroke are very expensive to replace. Good Luck!
