Anyone ever take Nexium before? My doctor just put me on it. This is the second day of taking it and I think I'm already suffering a side effect; abdominal pain. Now, I can't be for sure if it's the pills because I'm feeling a little icky all around which could be a cold or flu (the flu is pretty bad around here).
Anyways, I was wondering for those who take/have taken it, if it worked for you and how did you react to the medication. Suffer any side effects?
I've had bad heart burn for about 6 years and have probably eaten more Tums than one should in a lifetime. Doc is putting me in for an x-ray to see how bad the damage is and see what else is swimming around in me. A big part of the problem is my weight. I have to get down to at least 220 pounds. That means losing 40 pounds.

MY rule on meds is this, if the side effect list includes worse things than what I am suffering I will not take them. I have bad seasonal allergies, the doctor tried to give me allegra, I looked at the side effect list and saw "common cold" I told the doc he was nuts. I'll deal with the allergies, at least they don;t kick my butt.

Medical: I had the same problem years ago and got it corrected surgically. Turned out to be a restricted intestine kind of deal.
Behavioral: Eat a LOT less and often the heartburn goes away. Hunger pains are less annoying that the heartburn.

Tell the doc to put you on Aciphex. I use it and no side effects. My wife works for a gastro doctors office, and she broght me some of this stuff. I used it for 6 weeks and no more acid reflux, although I've had a relapse and have had to go back on it.
