Quick question: Does anyone know of a way to swap out the typical leaky/rusty master cylinder from a '76 F-150 with power brakes?
I was thinking of using a new style with the twist on caps and see threw plastic. That way I eliminate both the leaks and rust...but still able to see the level without having to open the master cylinder. Maybe from a "newer" F-150 or F-250 from the mid-90's???
You need to match bore and stroke for both front and rear sections. The mounting will be critical, you don't want that unit to fail during a panic stop. The proportioning valve may have to be changed also.
Maybe someone that has done it b4 will let you know.
I think I would just replace both pieces as a unit from NAPA. To prevent rust I painted the vacuum booster with epoxy black and the cylinder with black wrinkle. The wrincle paint is impervious to brake fluid.

Are you talking about replacing as a unit with "original" parts? Or parts from a newer F-150/F-250?
