my 99 ranger 4 cylinder is making noise ouf of the rear shocks, kinda like grunts when i go over bumps. Im figuring after 80K and alot of NYC driving, it may be time for new shocks back there.I do haul alot too What do you guys run and are ya happy with them?
I have air shocks on my Ranger.
I have loaded the truck down 'till the mud flaps were touching the ground.
When I'm not abusing it, I let most of the air out to have a reasonable ride.
beware, i put heavy duty shocks on my last ranger and it felt like my rear axle was bolted directly to the frame. maybe you just need new shocks, not necessarily heavy duty ones.
Given your application, I tend to lean toward the air shocks. Preferably Monroe, in my opinion.
At lower pressure they ride very well for "truck" shocks, which will make your commute more tolerable, and inflated they are quite capable and dependable.
I had a set on my "________" (off brand deleted) and legitimately used them for years and never ever did they loose a bit of oil or air.
Incidentally, Monroe makes a relatively large deal about making sure you know that IF they leak all the air out for some reason, it will not damage the shock. Given all the effort they put into making sure I knew it, I thought it only fair that I passed it on to you as well .
