Drain Valve Leaking

My 99 powerstroke has developed a leak from the water separator valve down to the drain hose. I checked the valve to make sure it was closed, and it is fine. Most of the time its just small drips of diesel but occasionally after sitting for a day or so there is a larger puddle. Very annoying, and the wife doesn't like the drips on the new driveway. Any thoughts?

You might want to try opening and closing the drain a few times, a piece of grit might be stuck causing a leak. If that doesn't work the drain assembly is held to the filter housing with four torque head screws. Drain the filter housing, take the drain assembly off and change the o-rings. Not certain of their size but they have them at the dealership, or you can get some at Ace Hardware. Put a little grease or diesel fuel on the screws when you put them back in. They are easy to strip going into aluminum if you use to much muscle. Easy does it. Should take about 30 minutes to do it if you have the o-rings. Tip, put a towel down in the engine valley to catch the screws that always get dropped into a place where you can't find them.

Good luck
