ok i think ive had enough... i might just get rid of AOL completly. i cant get my computer to adapt to the new hard drive, and the ultra ATA card doesnt help. hopefully i can return them... probably not with my luck though.
anyways... i *liked* AOL because its user friendly, has alot of options for chat rooms, news stories, the search option works pretty good, AOL 8.0 seemed fast enough. i liked being able to have numerous screen names and to put up profiles.
ive heard roadrunner is pretty fast, and cheap?
i need something that runs off the phone line like AOL does though.

What exactly is your problem?
As far as internet providers go, Comcast Cable Internet has been great, I get really fast service and without an extra phone line it cost me just as much as dial up cost me.
My mother in law uses roadrunner out there in Ohio...and it's thru the cable company...the only way you can get really fast and still use a telephone line is thru DSL. Contact your local phone company and they should be able to hook you up. I'll tell ya though, I use a cable connect thru Comcast and it's the best. If you already have cable in your home you should invest in the cable internet service...in most cases they'll provide you with the hardware you need and even install it for you.
I've used AOL, Earthlink, Bellsouth, and now I am on Comcast. I liked Mindspring before they merged with Earthlink, but when they did, their customer service went south. Bellsouth DSL was great, but moving messed that up. Now, I have Comcast Cable, and it seems to be doing very well also....

ok i put in the hardrive, didnt matter whether i set the new one as the slave or as the master. then you have to install the softaware disc. i did the installation process, and it says " remove the dics and restart your computer" so i did.... about 5 times... and everytime the computer would restart and the software wouldnt even be installed, it would go right back to the beginning of the installation process.
so then i installed the ULTRA ATA card... and did the software for that and it still didnt work... i put about 6 frustrating hours into this last night.
today i packed up all the stuff, and returned it all.
but a guy there said that i didnt need the hard drive- what i really needed was a memory chip which looked like the same setup the ultra ata card was. costs @ $100 bucks.
anyone have any ideas?
im really sorry when i subject you all to these questions but heck... someones gotta do it
