Thermostat housing question

On my 79 F-350 with a 400 on the thermostat housing there are 2 different pieces screwed into the housing that look like some kind of sensor but have nothing hooked to them, any ideas. If I failed to give enough info please let me know.

One of them is a vacuum hose switch that goes to an amplifier and then on to the EGR valve. It makes sure the EGR valve only operates when the water temp is over 160 degrees

The other is a temp-sensing vacuum switch that switches the distributor vacuum advance between the spark port (for normal operation) and manifold vacuum (for faster idle when the engine is hot).
