Gear Ratio?

Gear Ratio?
I am looking at a 2002 F-150 at my local dealer that is in great shape. I pull a 20 ft. bass boat from time to time and I was wondering if this truck will pull my boat OK. The truck has a 4.6 liter v8 but the dealer doesn't know if it has a 3.08 gear or a 3.55. What should I look for on the door tag? Also is there much difference in the pulling power of these two gear ratio's? The truck is equipped with the factory tow package if that makes any difference. (the boat weighs around 3,000,boat ,motor & trailer) Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a 2003 F 150 with the 4.6 engine, my door jam says '19' at the space for axle. I have the 3.55 open differential. I can't see you having any problems towing a 3000 lb boat. My truck tows my 2500 lb trailor without any difficulty. The manual transmission is only rated for about 3000 lb, the auto is considerably higher. Anyone know why the manual transmission is the weak link?
