whats up everyone, I'm Toohey. I got some questions about engine swaps. Now I did do a search and got some answers but I still have some questions for you. I apologize if they have been asked before.
Simply I am looking at picking up 80 - 86 F150. I do have a certain body styles I'm looking for but I don't think its relevant right now. I was reading some posts about the 300 and 302 and there pros and cons. Now I am not interested in off-roading all that much, although I hope the truck handles snow better than my mustang. I just love the way the older trucks look. Lifted with a loud exhaust, ahh just beautiful. So I think the 302 would be better suited for the sound and I like speed so I think that would be the way to go.
Now I am one of those people where stock is not good enough so how hard would it be to drop a 351 or 460 (Prefer) in its place. I know its been done but do they make a kit is there certain issues that come with the engine swap or should I just keep the 302 and build that up.
Again I apologize if the above questions have been asked a lot before.
Wasn't sure if they came from the factory like that or not? Or do you mean pick one up someone has already swapped and save myself the trouble. Actually either sounds good to me.
Actually after reading the threads for about 2 hours in the Inline six section, 302 and 460 sections I think I am going to go with the inline six. Better gas mileage is a big plus for me I drive 50 miles to work so that would be better for work driving even though I won't be driving it daily it will still help. Plus the 300 is better for towing, or so I've read and I know eventually I will have to tow so I'm going to stick with the 300. So thanks guys.
