l just bought this 85 F350,it has a 460 with reman heads and t-chain just done.l just put a factory reman carb on it because the other carb was for a manual trans...now it idles well and it runs okay with the new carb but if l install the air filter assy.it bogs really bad.lt seems to need more air, less fuel.lt did this with the other carb too.l was told the carb was bench tested at the carb facility and floats set etc and that l`d only have to set the idle...any ideas? any help appreciated
thanks guys,l checked that first and all is well there...l set the timing at idle with a vacuum guage and re-routed the dist.advance to the proper port- big improvement but still not what it should be.l`ll set the timing with a light next but it seems like l`m still getting too much fuel.l`ve heard about power valve replacements for high altitude(l`m at 7000 ft) and l may check that too...
"l`ve heard about power valve replacements for high altitude(l`m at 7000 ft"
This is certainly not helping. Definitely less atmospheric pressure at 7000 ft. I would contact Ford and see if they have recommended jets and carb calibrations for high altitude.
