older heads

I recently picked up a 302 in pieces and wonder if anyone knows about heads from 68 -302 with casting # C80E , I've found C80Z in ref. books and assume the others are similar anyone know? The block was setup for a roller cam and has XXX cast into the lifter valley area. any idea if this means anything?BTW the block is from the 80s.
thanks

The XXX on the block means it is a roller motor like those found in the HO Mustang and Lincoln LSC. I don't know about the heads.

There is nothing special about 68 heads. If yo used them the would need hardened valve seats installed and you would have to measure for the correct push rod length if you used them on the roller block. They also have an adjustable rocker arm and late models heads do not.

I believe the 68 heads have 52.5 cc. combustion chambers which are quite a bit smaller than newer heads. Give me a point or so increased comp. and since I run propane that helps. I like th eadjustable rockers and will use the heads with valve seats as is for a few years and when they go I'll rebuild the heads. thanks for the input
