Actually D9 means it was first used in 1979 you would actually have to look at the date stamp to see what year it actually is. Same on the heads, first used in '78. A date stamp will typically be a number(year), followed by a letter(month), folloed by two more numbers(day). For example 9A13 would be January, 13 1979. Hope this helps.
