I recently got a new cd player for my 94. I got it at circut city and they gave me 2 6.5 inch speakers for free but wanted an arm and a leg to install them. i can install them but i wanted to know if they would fit before i started. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
just kidding... well, they won't fit. you can make them fit somewhere, just not the factory holes, at least not without some MAD finagling. The door speakers are 4 1/4 (i believe) and the rear are something weird like 4x8. you can always break out a dremmel and make anything fit. I would suggest putting them in the rear cuz they will probably be too deep for the doors causing problems with your windows. Hope that helps.
i know that mine are not 6 1/2. I don't think that that changed between 94 and 96. I am guessing, but wheel may KNOW. like he said, just pop off the door pannel and compare the two. if they are the same, then you are already half done.
I just replaced my speakers a month ago. The front is 6.5 and the rears are 6x8. You can also check out www.crutchfield.com and see what they say the size is .
at least for my 87 bronco..they are 6.5 in front, 6x8 in back, and if there are size changes..u can get mounting brackets for them, just break apart plastic things to bolt into your existing system
yes they should fit i got 6 1/2 inch speakers from circuit city for my 87 but they installed them they took the door panel off and put the new speakers in the old 1's place but they aint mounted in the panel they are mounted on the door frame
I put 6 1/2 RFs in my 94 doors 2 weeks ago. It was very tight. I spaced them out a just bit and they fit. Must depend on the manufacturer of the speaker I guess.
Yes. They mount in the door. I do not know if it was available in the earlier years, but in my 96, there is a black plastic on the inside of the door to help protect from wind. You need to make sure you reseal where it goes around the speakers, or you might get some additional wind noise, as well as a constant draft. I learned that one the hard way...
Oh, I also used some washers around the four mounting bolts on the 6x8s because they were awfully close to the exterior panel. I wasnt sure if it would interfere with the magnet (even though there was a plastic backing on it).
I replaced all the stock speakers in my 82 with pioneer 3-way speakers. I used the stock sizes, the doors took 6-1/2" and the rear took 6x8". I could have fit 6x9" in the rear, but did'nt feel like triming the hole, also, I wanted to use the stock grills and make the interier look stock.
BTW, 1 of my friends tried to talk me into buying the sonys, cause he uses nothing else, now he drools over my setup. He has good bass, but lacks in smoothness and harmonics.
yea..the hole made for the speakers in the rear are BARELY too small to accept a 6x9, without mods..kinda disapointing haha, right now im putting 6x9s in boxes and putting them on the wheel wells, it works i guess

6x9's will fit, I made an adapter plate to mount them... but if you want to keep the stock look... then it won't work..
