I have a very weak parking brake in fact it doesn't hardly work at all I park on a slight grade and to test it I put it in neutral and apply the parking brake hard and it rolls away.. Can I adjust it? Or should I just get a set of chaulk blocks:P
I think part of the problem is the design, the rear disc have a small drum brake also. I think its just the small diameter that makes it not work as well.
If the self-adjusters do not seem to be working, then you can always manually adjust via the backing plate. There is a rubber plug on the lower half that covers the hole to access the adjusting "wheel".
Pulling the rear wheels (even one at a time) and actuating the parking brake can reveal any problems that you may have.
After you get it adjusted and working, try to use the parking brake
2-3 times per week to keep the tension adjusted. Otherwise over
time it will revert to a useless state.
I happen to park on a grade in my driveway, and use it every day
when I park. No problems in 32,000 miles. It holds like a rock.
