Thy flashed my truck Monday, I was told this recall is for WDS interface so independent shops can diagnose the 6.0 PSD with there equipment.
If you take your truck in for any work thy will flash it
Said it before, I'll say it again. IT'S YOUR TRUCK! You decide what is done. You can and do have the RIGHT to say to the dealer "Do not do any flashes!"
".was told this recall is for WDS interface so independent shops can diagnose the 6.0 PSD with there equipment. "
This is not entirely true. If accessing the WDS was an issue for independent shops, then this recall would be for all of the US, not just a couple of states. The recall is only for accessing smog data, not general diagnostics. But again, here in CA the desiel engines are totally exempt for now (may change in a few years). I'm not sure about the other states that this recall is directed at, like Mass, and NJ
Well, after reading a number of posts here, it's happened to my 6.0 too. Was heading to my parents for Christmas, and had just gotten on the highway when the truck started running BAD. Stalled out on the offramp when I exitted the highway. Fuel milage dropped by over 2 MPG (according to the display). Nursed it back home and switched everything to the van to make the trip. The truck goes into the shop next week to find out what's wrong. From reading the posts here, it sounds like it might be an injector issue

Go to this thread, read completely…. and post.
ODOMETER reading at time of problem is critical.
In addition, please read more instructions, bottom of first page, posted by Tim L
Tell as many as you can about this thread.
The simpler the writing (posting) of “problem/odometer” reading………….the easier it will be to collate. Do not need many words. I must reduce all the date into a usable format; extra words will take more time to complete.

Hey CDTruckin: The suspense is killin me. What was the recall about? I have a March 03 6.0 liter PSD special order that's getting 11.2 mpg (hand-calculated). Is the recall related to injectors?

This is a question for emtabmm, I have a build date of Dec 02 in Huntsville, a vin # of 1FTNX21P63EB56849. It does have some driveability problems, but they are not constant, sometimes it does this and some times not. I live about 40 miles north of you and go by your dealership quite often. Would the current flash help me any r make things worse? Thanks for your advise.

I would give anything to live that close to him………..you are blessed.
In fact, I think most if not all 6.0 owners wish he would move to
their area………………………once a month.
Sorry emtabmm, you will just have to get a bigger suit case……..have you thought about steamer trunk, you know self propelled and all.

Y'all are real funny, maybe a house on wheels? How would I take my yard....
rvns4us: I had the flash performed -- I haven't experienced any additional noise. In fact, my brother has the same truck as I do and the other night we were leaving the folks house. Both of us started our trucks at the same time, and mine was way quieter. I have no idea at what level he's been flashed, so I can't compare. I bought my truck about a month before he bought his (I have 1600 miles on mine). My build is 8/03.. not sure what his is.. I'll check it next time I see him.
