I just bought a 2004 Kingranch Crewcab 4x4 6.0 diesel Dec.23. I traded in my 2001 Lariat Crew Cab 7.3 diesel which NEVER had any problem. I testdrove the vehicle which had a rattling noise when I accelerated. The noise (rattling) on the acceleration and deceleration at the test drive on this 2004 did not disturb me. I was told they(service dept) checked it and it was ok. After I purchased it and was on my way home, I accelerated getting onto the interstate, and it made the noise again and again on deceleration. I arrived home, the engine light came on, called the dealership, went back first thing in the am,sat for 3 hours Christmas Eve while they could not figure the noise out, but did find a loose filter and tightened it up. Finally, one of the service managers brought out a computer printout from Ford saying the "fluttering" does occur with some of the 6.0 engines and "do not" attempt to fix it. This was normal.....Okay, I go home and last night,(same day, Dec.24) on the way back from the relatives, I again accelerate in a passing mode, the engine light comes on, and the rattling, or "fluttering" like Ford says, starts. Only, while it is doing this, the vehicle, seems to stall or just quit gaining momentum , while it is making the noise. I am going back to the Dealership first thing in the am. If this vehicle acts up when I put the hammer down, I am afraid what it is going to do when I am pulling my loaded 3 horse trailer down the road. Any suggestions I can give the service dept. when I go back in the am. They were
at a definite loss yesterday am. Thanks for any advice.
You know guy's i have to wonder some times about ford. becouse my wife and i bought a 03 explorer in march and while test driving it the digital dash went out... ford fixed it, but to weeks ago the fuel sensor went out and that was replaced. And i have posted about my 04 superduty in having problems. So whats up with ford?
Why would you buy any vehicle while during the test drive there was something that you had questions about ?
Before we bought our new '04 King Ranch we test drove a '03 K.R. and it was making a noise (strange rattle ) even my wife thought something was wrong with this truck. The salesman tried to brush it off as "normal diesel sounds" but we did not accept that the salesmen are just trying to clear out the 2003 trucks.
We wanted that truck but not the potential problems so we factory ordered a 2004 King Ranch the way we wanted. It was worth the wait to get a truck with out problems (you are not obligated to buy that truck just because you factory ordered it).
If you have questions about a truck or car just say "No" !!!
At the price of these things now a days anywhere from $40k - $60k no one should be unsatisfied with their purchases or let the salespeople push them around. We are in the drivers seat until they get our signatures.
