my over drive button on the auto keeps flashing, the speedo doesn't work any ideas????

 

Try replacing the speed sensor on top of the rear diff.

 

would that be the cause of the flashing of the button

 

No and on second thought, I'd get a scan tool hooked up to it to see what code it threw, first.

 

i had my 99 psd into the dealer on a numerous accounts for the same probleme and they alsways told me it was the speed sensor and now i am having the same trouble again so i will be lokjng at that

 

did it cause the converter not to lock up or not shift into fourth gear. by chance how much are they from ford

 

no codes from auto zone ill try tomorrow with a snap on that my oh uncle has

 

Same thing happened on our motorhome with the 4R100 transmission, by the time I got it to the dealer the next day the transmission was toast. Replaced under warranty. Good luck

 

My 2001 SD did the flash thing and it was a blown transmission.

 

Usually the blinking light means some kind of problem in the tranny. I would definately get it ckecked out. The problem with the speedo may just be a blown fuse depending on the year of your truck. But usually a blown speedo fuse will make your radio stop working too. Don't know if that happened also. My thoughts. Benjamin

 

WEL YOU SEE I LIVE IN DALLAS AND THE WEATHER IS UN!!PREDICTABLE. IT RAINED . I REPLACED THE SPEEDO SENSOR ON THE REAR AXLE AND FIXED THE SPEEDO.....BUT DIDNT FOR A WHILE FIX THE BLINKING LIGHT. MY WINDSHIELD LEAKS WHEN IT RAINS HARD OR FOR A LONG TIME I THINK WATER RAN THE COLUMN LENGNTH INTO SOMETHING AND SHORTED SOMETHING TOGETHER OR SOMETHING. THE LIGHT FINALLY WENT OFF AFTER IT QUIT RAINING AFTER 6-8 HOURS AND NOT HAVE HAD ANY MORE TROUBLE SINCE THEN I AM GOING TO USE SOME FROM INFO FROM DEAR OLD DAD FROM CHEVROLET(HE HAS THE MULTI THOUSAND DOLLAR ALLDATA SYSTEM)TO FIND WHERE ALL THE GROUND ARE. ME BEING AN ELECTRICIAN BY TRADEA LOOSE GROUND COULD BE ANOTHER CULPRIT.

I have a 2000 f350 v-10 had the same thing light would flash speedo didnt work till 30mph took out the abs/speed sensor cleaned it up it now works fine abs light still comes on sometimes next step just replace the sensor hope this helps:-) :7

 

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Oct-02 AT 10:52 PM (EST)]i replaced the sensor oh and if you have a chip just undo the batts for about ten minutes and it defaults the computer (resets)it will also get rid of the abs light i have done it several times especially after it rains.....
