I think the darker blue started in 67, unless they used it earlier than that. 67 and 68 both are the same shade of blue according to my brochures. Or at least in the brochure pix they look the same shade...I haven't checked 69,70, etc, but I think they are too...I'm not sure what years used the light blue, but I'm pretty sure none of the 67-72 fords did. My friends 74 f-100 with the 240 also used the darker blue that is the same as my 68. He happened to paint his rusted air cleaner with the light color blue, and it's way lighter than the original paint. I'm talking like night and day. To me, when I see the light blue, the first thing I think of is mopar...Seems they used that color at one time. BTW, I'm not trying to be overly retentive about the color shades, but to many on here restoring to original, it's probably fairly important. So far, I've never seen a 67-72 ford that used the light blue stock from the factory. All were the darker blue. Anyone ever see one in the junkyards with light blue? I'm not claiming to be the ultimate authority...Maybe I just haven't seen one yet.. MK
I just ran outside and checked. I still can see the original color on my valve covers. It seems a little darker than what youve got but like most everyone else here... if you like it...
If you like it thats all that matters. Once he starts to open his wallet instead of his mouth, then his input will count. By the way, what does he drive?
