alright i have been doing lots of searches most of them seem alittle older so i thought i might give some newer guys a chance to awnser my question.....what should i do to get the bolts off with out breaking them or takeing motor or front clip out/off some one said AeroKroil is the best stuff in the world for this... so any idea's i had fun with this in my 4x4 FE but it was easier no broken bolts and no power steering so easy acces......this is a 69' F-100 390 C-6 so any thoughts.....? ( broken bolts)
With an impact if you have the room. With an extension,it will cut down the torque but, the hammering effect works great. Never-sieze when putting back in.
If you have PS, then give up on the impact wrench. On my '69 F250, I removed 'em after i pulled the heads to rebuild the engine. I would say for a week or so spray this PB Blaster on there, I did, and it helped, I think. Also, if you have access to a torch of some sort, one of the guys suggested getting the ears on the head cherry red, then trying it(wearing thick gloves, of course). Seems to me it would work, getting hot enough the rust might loosen up a little. Granted, you can only do that on the top of the head, but I didn't have any of the bottom bolts break on me. Good luck, whichever route you go.
well I tackled it today every thing is going great just 1 broken bolt so....I guess i'll fix that and then slap headers on did this with brake flooid.............
Kroil is crap and pb blaster not much better. Get CRC screwloose That stuff is amazing and will loosen anything in a couple minutes. It's pretty new stuff. I just used it on my rusted header bolts a few days ago. I don't know where to get it as I buy it through work.
pb blaster didnt really help me much when i did my manifolds this summer, after weeks of spraying them everyday i still broke almost all on one side. i used a torch on the other side and got them all out. but pb blaster did cause alot of smoke from where it dripped down my exhaust pipes when i finally got the new manifolds on and was letting her run for a bit.
