Well I'm working on the Thorley header install. I have 4 broken bolts out of 20 ,isnt't that bad. I'm sure it could be worse. Some off the broken studs came right out. I little heat works wonders I now have 4 remaining bolts broke in the head. My question is what have you guys used in the past with success?
Your help as always is greatly appreciated
If they are broken off below the surface so you can't weld a nut on, your best bet would be to use "left handed" drill bits. Using these reverse cut drill bits to (with drill set to reverse) drill out the center of the studs will a lot of times walk the stud out when they catch, as opposed to regular bits that can actually drive the offending stud farther into the hole. If the actual drilling doesn't get them to unscrew then move onto an easy-out.
Good luck, keep us posted and looking forward to a nice review of those headers! And pics or it didn't happen!

Thanks for the info gents. I will keep you guys updated. I took before pics and definately looking forward to taking the completed pics
I need to get this header job done because the lift install is next
Even if the stud is broken off below the surface, you can still likely weld to it if you use a mig. Since the head is aluminum and the stud is steel, you can build it up some and then weld a nut on. I had to do this on one of mine and it was fine.
