I had been looking at a bunch of "95" F-150's before i bought mine and noticed the difference in front bumpers. The ones I'm speaking of are both chrome with rub strips but on some there are 2 holes or air ducts on either side of the license bracket, was this added extra for the towing package or just the 5.8 trucks?
I noticed the F-250 PS Diesel have this same bumper also. I had planned on adding driving lights in the openings & I dont tow anything all that much anymore so if it's for extra cooling I dont wanna "shoot myself in the foot" so to speak incase they we're meant to be left open.
That bumper was used on all Eddie Bauer F-150's, Powerstrokes, and 96 XLT models. I don't think you'll hurt a thing by adding lights there as nothing is different on the trucks without the holes.

the bumpers with the holes in it are the diesel bumpers.....but could be ordered on any truck, i have a 96 f150 with it on there and fog light in it and it don't hurt a thing. factory fog lights are mounted there, "but never seen it" the ford bible says it comes there. i have a factory for book with any peice of information, and thats what it said. go ahead put lights there. you'll find that bumper on any truck, and i have seen diesels with solid bumpers too. so your call.
I'm pretty sure those slotted bumpers came out in 95 for just the power strokes, then in 96 all the trucks had them. I bought my 94 new and it had the solid bumper, then I replaced it with a slotted one in '96.
