installing AOD Tranny

I have a 78 F250 4x4 with a 351m... can an AOD tranny be hooked up to this motor?? if so which one do I need?? Thanks

no it can not since the bell housing on a M motor is a big block pattern. there may be a kit for this but even though the aod is not a good tranny for work or play

I am not sure what trannies where offered behind the 460 motors but what ever they are then they will bolt up to the 351M. I have read an article on here some where on sone installing I think an E40d trans in his 78 truck. Some said it couldn't be done but he did it and wrote up on how to do it.

So someone has done it. I am nnew to the site so I am still learning my way around. The best thing I can say is to try searching the tech articles.
