Well actually you cannot really tell what it is with the infomation given, there's thousands of things that it could be. Before you start throwing money at it, I suggest you get a Haynes Manual and start troubleshooting it.
Howdy,
I agree, get a Haynes manual. Then check the ignition modual according to the instruction there. Mine went out and I got spark, gas, ect. The problem is that in my '90, the TFI distributor mounted modual can go belly up with spark timing. It replaced the crank sensor in my truck and the ECU didn't know when to send spark. The distributor mounted moduals caused Ford enough headaches from my understanding that they went back to fenderwell mounted style in '92 or so. Be thankful it crapped out at a stop. I've read where they went out on a highway causing serious problems for the folks inside the vehical.
Just my 2 cents frommy own experience. I spent two days running wires to find out it was a $50.00 part that took ten minutes to change.
Oh, it takes an odd socket thingy to change it out. The tool is fairly common for sale at most of my local parts stores.
Good luck!

I would highly recommend to buy the Service Manual instead. They go cheap on Ebay. A used one is fine as long as the pages are still there.
Those Chiltons and Haynes are just bits of pieces of information gathered from the Service Manual. The Service Manual for your particular Truck would be 2 1/2" thick and covers strictly for your Truck model.
I agree. If you can't find your manuals on eBay, check out Helms online. for each year you'll need three manuals. One covers the engine, one the chassis/interior/ect, the last one is an emission diagnosis manual. The last one covers all Fords (I believe) for that peticular year. Of course if the truck is a "temp", then just get a Haynes or Chilton. There's no beating the Ford service manuals though.
Oh, I forgot, a vacuume manual's also available for each model.
