Brake lights
Hey guys i have a problem with my brake lights/turn signal lights. It seems as if the right side rear turn signal/brake like is only working on one filament. What i mean is when the lights are on the turn signal will turn the whole light on and offand when i hit the brakes the whole light turns off completely. Could this be a short or a bad ground or a bad socket? Thanks for your input.

Yup, it sounds like a bad ground on that light fixture. It's a common problem in the 73-79 ford trucks. I have had to fix 2 of them. I fixed both the same way. I drilled a small hole in the light fixture and passed a 16 gauge wire through it. I then soldered the end of the wire to the outer steel perimeter of the light socket. I then put an "eye" on the other end of the wire and screwed it to the bed sheet metal behind the the light assembly. Don't forget to seal the spot where the new ground wire passes through the hole you drilled.

I had the same problem on my 76 F100 and a very knowledgable counter guy showed me the bad ground in or on the bulb holder itself that was almost impossible to see unless it was specifically
pointed out to someone...I mean this was really a gremlin. The
electro boys say that 90 percent of electrical problems are bad grounds.
