After yesterday being told over phone by a Ford service manager that there is a service bulletin stating that it is normal for the water pumps on all PSDs to leak coolant;I asked for a print out of the same ( while at the dealership). Guess what, after almost 10 minutes on his computer he failed to find any documentation to that effect. It was always my belief that it was the best to be honest and forthright. Deceit must be a prerequisite for these positions as they are all expert at it.......This was the same wizard that told me you don't have to remove the thermostat housing to replace the water pump. And this from a seasoned person in his mid to late fifties, for shame on Ford. Turns out the problem is with a warped thermostat housing (as I speculated) but guess what? They don't have this small inconsequential (subject to fail) stamped steel part on hand;and won't have for one week. When asked if distilled water is mixed with the replacement coolant (as owners manual states) I was told he never heard of such a thing. Oh yea, I bet they only know about this when they try to void your warranty. HEADS UP
,told over phone by a Ford service manager that there is.......
Since we are free to mention the names of dealership who have assisted a truck owner on a fair level........we should be free to name the dealers with whom we have had less than creditble responses.....
When I first started looking for a PSD, I found a nice truck at a local Ford dealership in Richardson, Texas. Problem was that it had injested parts of the wrong air filter and mangled the turbo vanes. Needless to say, I was not happy with the truck. The dealership tried their best to stick me with the truck by such statements as "It's a heavy duty Power Stroke diesel and is made to take that kind of sever duty." "It's still under warranty so if anything happens you're covered." After a week of long discussions and references to my attorney they decided it was in their best interests to let me out of the deal. Bad thing was that they put the same truck on the lot and someone is driving it today. I don't trust ANY dealership!
Only found one in 45 years of buying vehicles and they are long gone out of business.(Old time Chevy dealer with room for only one car on his wooden showroom floor;bought 3 autos,3trucks, 3 Corvettes from him.) These were all new and I only had a bad service and warranty problem with the last Vette, a 69 model. ( eventually totaled by me therefore problem solved.)
Many years ago I worked for a private garage, and we towed for many dealers. That is where I got my first incite as to their dishonest practices.
I chose them as they have been in business under that name for years, and just within the 35 mile warranty tow limit. The dealer I bought my truck new from in 2000 is out of business. The nearest dealer (7miles) was reccently locked out of their leased bldg.for failure to pay rent.(Changed name a couple times in a few years)
Next closest changed name 4 times in less than ten years.Sure doesn't say much about integrity;and doesn't leave one much choice. Americans screwing Americans as usual.
I have never been so lied to as when I last went to a dealership. That experience taught me that my truck will be better off falling apart and dying, than ever taking it to a Ford Dealer. I will not buy another new Ford, because I would have to speak to the low life that sells 'em. So, Ford, you did it, you chased me away.
Unfortunately you'll probably run into the same snake at whatever stealership you pull into. Don't let some *** clown run you out of the best truck on the planet.
In fact, the lot manager at a big Ford dealer in North Little Rock is a good buddy of mine, a real straight shooter. I'd be happy to hook the two of you up at new truck time if you're interested.
Oh I agree. It's not localized to FORD. All dealerships must attend the same "how to screw" classes. I guess the term "used car salesman" didn't just appear from knowwhere.

In a couple of years, when I next need new, I will contact you, cookie.
It's a shame that dealers have gotten such a bad rep. The dealer I work for has faults like all do but really does try and keep it clean and straight up. Example: Owner refuses to do any direct advertising, word of mouth and billboards only for the most part, we have 1 t.v ad that is about 2 years old and 1 radio spot. Here in the service dept. my largest obstacle is overcoming past experiences performed by another shop...
