I have a 1999 Ford Ranger Extended Cab with a 3.0L engine. I guess my confusion is my GVWR of Y and my engine code of V. Shouldn't the engine code be a U? What is a V engine type?
Also, since my GVWR is Y does this mean I am really driving a semi? Thanks.
I think the difference in the "U" and "V" engine codes has to do with the FFV (Flex. Fuel Vehicle) engine. I think the different letters just differenciate between FFV 3.0 and a regular 3.0.
There is a page HERE that will tell you. Are you sure that is your VIN. I mean mine had a few #'s like the GVWR that were off (Z), but all the others were right. Who knws? you can do a ford VIN search on yahoo, and try to figure it out if you really want to.
