ok all you damn geinuses.....I got one of the bottom bolts off to the shield plate in front of the damn filter, but one, even after soaking for a couple of hours, wont budge. AHHHHHHHH Any ideas or maybe some funky spray that will help it come off? (Getting out the cuttin torch!)
I tried that, even with a cheater bar of sorts...it started to strip so I stpped and put a wrench on it with a cheater bar...about a 1 footer. Still wont move.
another way to relieve fuel pressure, there is an inertia switch under the dash on the fire wall. Pry the button up with a screw driver and start the engine a couple of times. Pressure is relieved. After writing this, I don't know if that switch is on the '85? it's on my '90, though
ya their is a switch on older models....try this get a good bite and try to tap it loose....just a thought (i'm sure you prob have already tried this)...all else fails cut the b!t^&.....
Well I am planning on making a trip to the tool store today on my way home and get something there to remove it. Prolly vise grips or something. I was just hoping that there was something like a spry that was real good that would help in breaking it loose. Ah well, guess brute force will have to come into play on this one. Thanks guys!
OK I feel like an idiot...after going thru the Haynes manual, I found that there is on bolt on the bottom of the shield and one on top. There is another bolt on the bottom, or so I thought. Looks like its just a dummy bolt. Not meant to be removed. The manual has about 4 pics and show 1 top and 1 bottom. DOH!
