is there ia difference in 302 blocks
does anyone know if there is a difference in a 302 block that has a wide intake manifold on it and a narrower one. i went to the wrecking yard to look for a 302 engine and the guy showed me one but the intake manifold on it was wider than the one on my truck now. i was just wanting the block and to reuse my heads and intake but i don't know if they will work with this block. could anyone tell me if the difference is just in the heads and intake that are on this engine or are the blocks totaly different. i really want to get my truck running again so any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh my truck is a 77 f 100 with a 302, c-4 transmission, and 2 wheel drive. i need the block because my is cracked!!

alright thanks i guess when i go back ask him about another one and look around some more for one that looks like mine. it would have helped to have the decal on the valve cover of that engine so i could have been able to tell exactly what it was. any who, thanks for the quick replies i'll keep digging!!!!!!

guys i have another question. i looked around on the engine forum part and saw another posting about a 351 and i was wondering would my 302 heads bolt on to that block and work and just buy a 351 intake manifold. i was planning on buying a new intake in the future anyway so i could have a 4 barrel carb. or should i just give it up, but it is a good deal on the short block.

yes they will. The block and intake is main diffrence besides whats inside. The 302 and 351W uses the same heads. you'll also need a 351W dizzy. So if you get the block you can swap your heads and all onto the 351W block. Just use a 351W intake and the 351W dizzy you should be good to go.
