I am tearing my engine down, call it exploratory surgery. I have taken the dist. hold down bolt off, but it won't budge, it will twist, but I can not lift it up at all. Is there a pin or anything.? I have been working around it so far, but now have everything torn off and can not go any further with it in the way. It is an 81 351W.
There is no pin or any other type of retainer holding the dizzy in. It is prob just oil varnish built up around the housing. Try spraying some carb clean around the base, and then working it around. I have had one that refused to come out, I ended up breaking it and still had to drive it out from the bottom( NOT MY ENGINE). Thot I better mention that!! The dizzy fits thru the intake with a tight fit, they can be stubborn, lots of cleaner/penetrating oil and wiggle it around! LOL
