I recently tuned up my truck - new wires, plugs, filter, oil- and I get an occassional miss. I only notice it at idle, and not at any particular time. Today I started it and it idled rough so I turned it off and resarted it and it ran fine. Other times I will notice the rough idle after driving it for a while and if I turn it off and restart it the miss goes away. Any ideas?
get a haynes and check your codes, or go to autozone and they will pull your codes for free, get them and come back here and post, someone will tell you what direction you should take or give you a link to a site that lists the codes and possible problems. Did it only occur after your tune up? If so, I would double check the plugs wires, as in, are they on the right cylinder? Probably are, but it never hurts to double check.
firing order 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
they run counter clockwise on the cap
passenger side of block front to back is 1-2-3-4
driver side of block front to back is 5-6-7-8
Might consider changing the cap and rotor, as well.
I would make sure to replace the fuel filter to make sure you are getting enough fuel at idle. Also many have reported having plugged injectors due to rust in tanks/system/fuel rail. Pulling your injectors/fuel rail and having them cleaned and flow tested could nail that down.
