Dually D60 and D70
I'm looking to convert my F250 to dually version since I will be installing a flatbed. Need to tow with it and lug stuff around without having the hassles of bedsides hanging all over.
I'm looking at the possibility of the 4" Skyjacker front and rear springs for the truck, but for a dually truck, what size of 16" rim tires would look good and decent for that amount of lift?
I know for fact up to 79 will bolt in, but I think the frame width actually changed around 83-85, so later than 79 D60 front may work. Never heard of a 70HD, Have a new dodge one in my backyard, but tubes aren't 4". I'm running a single wheel 14 bolt from a 78 12 foot K30 cab chassis under my ford. The pre- 1980 chev heavy K30's got much heavier axle tubes, center chunk and brakes than the others the 80's K30's got the el-cheapo regular 14 bolt. I'm a believer in the 14 bolts. I've only seen 2 break- one behind a turbocharged 3208 cat towing a 20,000 lb trailer and one when a buddy jumped his truck onto a rock. And the 14 bolts are cheap. I paid $100 for mine $50 for the detroit and another 200 for everything to do the disc brakes. The D70 is a good rear, but atleast around my area, dually rears aren't fetching alot of money, a good friend owns a gear and tranny shop and he's got a brand new Dana 80 dually 8 lug with discs he'd let go for under $300. I think you have to go 16.5 inch wheels with the 60 front. I've got 16.5 eagle 589's on mine and the calipers almost touch.
