I have always ran 10w-30 mobil in my 78 F-100. Should I switch to 5w-30, i live in central iowa, usual starting temps are about 10 F in the winter. Does rotella produce a 10w-30 for my diesel?

BTW, would not a 5w30 be another Black Death oil in the earlier days? I think it has about as much VIIs as 10w40.
That is why I never liked the idea of 5W-30. If it got cold enough here to need it, I would go syn or blend. The newer group II base oils with a higher VI combined with newer VII chemistry has probably decreased the problem.
I notice that in my '94, 10w-30 is preferred for the 5.0 and 5W-30 for all the other gasoline engines. Since there is no difference in clearances, I conclude that the higher-revving 5.0 must have sheared out 5w-30 in testing.
