Hard Starting

93 F150, Straight 6 is hard starting. I turn the key, wait for the fuel pump to stop, but still I have to turn it over, wait, turn it over about 5 or 6 times before it will finally start. I did a whole tuneup, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, everything I could think of. Once it's running it's just fine but always very hard to start summer or winter. Any ideas?

Check your fuel pressure. With the 300 it should be right around 58-61. It will drop a couple of #'s once started. If it's below that, put a pressure regulator on it.

Also check your pressure regulator for a bad diagphram. Pull off the vacuum line and check for fuel in the line. FUEL = BAD UNIT.

A bad idle air control valve may be the culprit as well. The IAC controls the idle speed and is noticable on start when it keeps the idle elevated on a cold start for 30 sec or so before it drops back to normal. This is alot like giving the vehicle a shot of gas before it is started. If it is not functioning, it may be hard to start hot or cold.
