front right side axle
The right side axle shaft on my 1992 f250 diesel is seized up at the slip joint. Is this serious? If yes how could it have seized in the first place?

It is not going to cost $1000 to fix. And the truck in question has a twin traction beam dana 50. This happened to the slip joint on my bronco. It was caused from a lack of lubrication but all you have to do is get them apart. I wound up heating mine up pretty good and tapping it with a hammer until the shafts came apart. I made sure I greased up the splines pretty good before I put it back together. I cannot remember if there if a grease fitting on it but I do think that the shafts only go together one way. So make sure to mark the shafts just in case.
