Rancho shocks

Are Rancho RS7000's any good? I was planning on installing them on my 79 Bronco along with the existing stock shocks so I have quad front shocks. What do yo people think about them? Should I try it?

yes they are really good shocks....esp on the lighter trucks. My dad runs them on his superduty and rides real nice.

Personally I would just replace the stock shocks rather than run them tandem, but that's just me

Why do you say to just replace them instead of add them? Won't I be making the front capable of taking more punishment? I know it will ride rougher but ahh..oh well it's a 79.

if you leave the old shocks on their and add new ones the news ones will have to work harder to dampen what the old ones cause. if the shocks under your truck now are decent then i say try it.

EDIT: sorry for the typos...i bout cut my finger off yesterday so typing is a chore now, lol

Glad to hear that. Many guys running tandem up front don't need them and simply put them in for looks...which can lead to other problems. You'll be happy with the Ranchos.

what other problems will it add pro?

why add different shocks? i thought i would be best if all were the same. otherwise wouldn't they kinda work agains eachother? or one set work harder than the other? i don't know. oh well.

I thought he had decided to just replace his old shocks with a single set of new ones...? Like you said its not good to mismatch shocks.

Dual shocks are only needed when they are A) dampening a crap load of weight under B) severe conditions, i.e. hard hits. This is why I have them on my red one.

I've seen too many guys throw stiff dual shocks on either side on a mild street rig which results in an ultra hard ride...rather than soaking up the bumps like a shock is supposed to do they simply jar the truck, are hard on all your other components, and can cause lack of control.

I have two stock shocks that are in good condition on my front. I'm going to add the two rancho rs7000's so I have quad front shocks. 2+2=4. Does that help? I just wanted to know if it is a good idea because I do a good amount of off-roading and take some hard landings. I do however drive it as my daily driver. I don't expect it to ride all that smooth anyway considering it is a 79 beast. I was just wondering what everyone else would do and if they think Rancho Rs7000's are good?

my point was that if they are not all ranchos then that probably is not a good idea... even if they are all new i don't think it would be wise it mix type or brands. but i do't know for sure.

if this is true then all you need is one shock per corner...but like it was stated it does look pretty sweet with four shocks per corner all shocks do is dampen what your suspension dishes out. If you don't care how rough the ride is then one shock is sufficient...hell i remove my shocks one my rock crawler b/c the springs are a lil stiffer then i would like but that is ok.

whatever floats your boat man.

Would you stop teasing the new guys! They are gonna think you are serious... back to your cage.....

Yes, as stated, mismatched duals are a bad idea. Since you asked what we would do...

Single new ranchos...prob the 9x series so you can dial it up or down depending on what you are doing.

I would pull the stock shocks and throw a set of 4 Rancho RS7000s at it... one in each corner of course! Oh, and don't forget a matching steering stabilizer!

Oh wait... that's on my wish list for my truck! oops...
