i have 2003 6.0 liter that has been nothing but small problems. it has been in for rough idle 4 or 5 times, finally was fixed. water in fuel light was on at @ 2000 miles, finally fixed at 33,000 with new fuel pump. bad battery cable, needed replaced. rear main was leaking at 20,000 miles they added dye and didn't see it, then at 27000 was leaking again (or still) replaced rear main. multiple times truck would not start. turned key over and just turned over for about 30 seconds twice and finally started. they couldn't find out why. at 29000 would surge at idle and they replaced rear speed sensor, it showed 20 mph when cranking.?? Took truck in at 32000 for oil change, they said i needed new fuel filter, transmission fluid change, air filter and oil change. quoted price was 350, was charged 550. air filter was $100. needless to say i was pissed. they also replaced fuel pump b/c water in fuel light stayed on. Today at 35814 miles the rear main is leaking again. Ford has given me a 5yr/75000mile bumper to bumper but i want a new truck. Am i justified and if so how do i go about it. i bought it in TN and i live in MS now. Thanks

I have had alot of problems with my 2004 6l, to many to mention and i think ford should get there **** together with these trucks because i dont no about you but i have better things to do than taking it to the dealer every other day, people buying these type of trucks dont usally work at 7-11 and have time to drop it off time and time again. My truck is for work and i dont need a taurus while its getting fixed. Mine is a LEMON to as far as im concerned, had a 2000 7.3 w/over 200000 on it, never went to shop once in 4 years. Now this thing has been in 6 times in a month, and still not right.Good luck to ya
I'm a Ford guy, had lots of F-150 to haul my tool trailer and decided to switch to diesel, 2003 250 CC 6.0 Aug 03. Been stranded on the side of the road 3 times since jan.
Not fun with a full crew, trailer in tow, deadlines and thousan of klm from home. Seems that you can't operate this truck at low outside temp without fuel additive even if the operator manual says that you should not! ( fuel gelled) Last week was no oil pressure. Another week in a Taurus with 4 men crew!
Thinking about dumping it and going back to gas: v-10 maybe?

What temperatures are we talking about? Gelled diesel is just that. It wouldn't matter if it was Ford, Dodge, GM, Peterbuilt or what. Jelled fuel doesn't flow very well. As for the manual saying not to use an additive? I think you'd be better to educate yourself on diesel fuel charateristics. Verify your fuel source. Find out if it's treated at the source. If not, and your temps are below freezing, you should treat your fuel with anti-gel agents.
In the long run, you'll like your diesel much more than you would a V10. There's lots of 6.0's and 7.3's running the fields of the north very successfully.
Guess I'm feeling really lucky that my 04' has only been to the shop 4 times since last summer. Could be a lot worse!
My neighbor's family was up yesterday for Easter. The son in law came over to ask about my truck. He said he bought an 03' 6.0 and Ford bought it back because it was a lemon. He's driving an ugly gold Chevy now...he told me that he wouldn't buy another Ford. He said he did love the 6.0 power and towing, but his truck constantly konked out and stalled on him. Ford couldn't figure out why. He had to put it in neutral and restart it at every traffic light. This happened in Nevada. Not sure what the lemon law is there and I don't think he had to push the issue. They just bought it back.
Last 3 times I was at the dealer...the service advisors told me about other people with major problems...ie: bad injectors, turbos, etc. It's not just people on this forum unfortunetly...
who did you talk to about getting the warrany extended,I am have some of the same issues and the the mileage on mine is coming to 36k soon.I am thinking about moving to the dark side by trading for a chevy/gmc.I fthey can do the same for me by extending the warrant I will keep it..
