Caffiene is a stimulant. At the very least I think it makes it harder to sleep. Other drinks containing caffiene are colas and teas. I try to avoid them after dinner.
Coffee doesn't bother me a bit. I fall asleep just fine, but, I wake up an hour later to use the bathroom, and then an hour later, up again. So I try not to drink coffee to late for that reason.
Sometimes if I have worked a 16 + hour day a can of Coke will actually help me sleep better. Don't know if it is the caffeine or the sugar but I think you can be too exhausted to sleep peacefully.
Yes it keeps me awake all night.... But then again I work nights so it is doing its job (most of the time), and since I drive a big truck lets all hope it continues to work
Caffene, I've found kind of creeps up on you with age, I remember when I was in my teens I could guzzel sodas all day right up until bedtime and sleep like a baby all night, but now that I'm 46 I can't drink soda after noon time and expect to sleep
I've never drank coffee, but I sometimes use sodas to do the same thing-for the energy and to stay awake.
I think it all depends on your tolerance for caffiene. I have none what-so-ever. If I have a cup of coffee at 8 in the morning, I more than likely will have a hard time falling asleep at night. I've noticed that my tolerance has gotten less, as I've gotten older. Someone else mentioned this before. Could be why your having different effects from coffee now.
