Help!!! Please Help!!! I bought a 1987 "F150 v8302' And have practically rebuilt everything under the hood. I'm not getting any current going to the coil, sometimes i get it and other times i don't. Is there away I can bypass it. I'm trying to get it in time, but can't because i'm not getting any fire.I have been working on this for 3 weeks. Help me please. Man thank the man above for sites like this.
It sounds like you need to buy a new TFI module. I would not recommend jumping anything out as you may cause more serious damage than you already have.
I will have to write this off as a lost, I have done everything possible to this truck and it still will not start, I have replaced the computer, fuel pump, reconneted the wiring to get the lights working, distributer, and much other stuff. Let me fill you guys in on this because you did try to help. I needed a truck, so I found one in the trading post $2500 but the guy let me have it for $2000, the tags were expired so he drove it to where i live and we paid him and took him back home. The guy had to be between 38 & 40. I went and got all the paper work straight on this truck, then it would start and shut off, then i had gotten it were i drove it around the block, when i return home it wouldn't shut off, then when it did it wouldn't start backup. I have put some new and used parts on this truck, they seems to work once and nomore. So then the guy will not answer the cell phone, then he answered it and lied, he said he didn't know what was wrong with it. When clearly him and the ad says runs great. Oh yeah and title, i had to get his mother to come to DMV and sign it over, because he had scratched out the siginature that she had signed. So this truck and this young man has really taken me for $2000 that i really couldn't afford and to top that off my job that i had been on for over 20 years closed down about 3 weeks ago, I just want to say thanks for the help that you guys tried to give me, I have given up and will just junk this truck.
P>S. I have very little knowledge of electrical wiring etc. at this point i know that is what it is and i will not put anymore money or time in this truk.

Paulie, don't give up on it yet. It may just need a $15 part. You first posted that the power to the coil was intermittant, and that it wouldn't shut off? If that's correct, it sounds like your only trouble is a faulty ignition switch......
