Yet Another Ignition Question

I feel stupid for asking but...
Where does the ignition control mount and plug into.
Also what is the coil for and where does it go.

It mounts just ahead of the hood spring hinge on the fender apron.

There are many harness ends in that area.

Usually it is an aluminum colored box unless the ignition has been changed to something aftermarket.

The module below has a black grommet but most have a blue grommet.

Doesn't black or blue denote different modules or am I getting it mixed with something else?

There are different modules for different apps.Your local parts place should be able to point you in the right direction.

grommet color

jerrybo66 you are correct, the grommet color changes for different applications, that is at least on the original Motorcraft ones. Most of the truck ones are blue, is also true. I have seen red, and the one in the picture is black. I think there is a yellow and white one also, but I am not sure of this. It is also true that the Motorcraft ones are much better quality than the parts store versions.
