The electric brakes for my trailer have stoped working. Checked all the fuses none blown. The lights (turn and stop) still work. Do you think its the module. suggestions appreciated.
brown dob, try checking the relay next to the fuse box under the hood....driver's side. There are actually two relays. They are under a small square cover just to the right of the fuse panel. I think, the front one controls the trailer tow harness. And actually.....and by now I should be an expert on ths....the rear relay controls the ESOF on 4x4's, so check that one first and make sure your fuses check out with a test meter....sometimes they look like they are good, but may be blown further up in the molded part where you can't see.
Thanks for the info, but I tried all the tings you metioned. Even went to dealer & bought a new relay still don't have any breaks on the trailer. The green led light still won't come on.
How old is your trailer? How long has it been since the brakes were serviced?
I just today picked up my trailer from my trailer guy who said that I needed to have my brakes redone. I have done little maintanence on them in several years. He said that the magnets that operate my brakes were likely shot. Also said the drums may need turning as well as the plates that the magnets contact to make the drums work. Check the power input to the brakes and see if you have power there.
Good luck.

I agree, if everything appears ok up to the controller, go from there back. With something like this, it is just a process of elimination, I guess. Time consuming...yes, but at least if you narow it down, you won't be replacing parts that you don't have to. Good luck....been there, done that.
With your foot on the brake try the slide bar.. if the light comes on then its power to the controller. I had this problem when i first hooked mine up and allmost bought a new controller till i did the wire test.
The sensitivity lights will light up. I've tried setting them at the highest setting still no brakes. Even if I hit the slide bar by it self they all light up but the trailer won't lock the tires. The truck was rewired 6 months ago because I was having a problem with the truck not charging the battery for the trailer(its a dump body). I have had the trailer for 3 years and was told to inspect the bracks is a pain because of the drexel axle. If there is any truth to that I don't know. The brakes were making some noise before they stopped working. Do the trailer brakes work the same as a truck, that is will the noise keep getting louder as the pads were down or will they just stop working as in this case. Sorry for all the questions I'm more of a carpentar than a mechanic. Your insite on all this is greatly appreciated.
