i bought a holly carb for my 84 f150 it looks almost identicle to the old one. except the new one, the fuel line comes in the side on the front, instead of the front bottom like the old one, and there is a vacuum line on the front of the old one that there isn't a place to put it on the new one, do i have the wrong one?
or should i plug the one vacuum line and try to bend my fuel line (its metal tubing so i dont know if i should attempt that)
What is the list number on the front/right side of the choke horn?
It sounds like a universal carb.
Are you talking about the large vac. line that goes on the front bowl? If so, it is just a vapor recovery hose and if you don't have emmisions inspections, you can just block it off.

it is a large line in front that goes to the choke i think were talking about the same line, i think the # is 50174 its a little scuffed so i cant really tell, is there a kit that will make my existing fuel line go to the after market carb or do i need to try to bend my fuel line? thanks for your help
What I would do is to get a Banjo fitting that goes into the carb fuel inlet. Then get an inline fuel filter and couple the filter to the banjo fitting and the factory line with short pieces of rubber fuel line.

I looked that number up on Holley's website and is doesn't show up. It you get a chance, try to get me all of the numbers off of the one that you are installing and I will try to find out what it is for ya.
sorry i thought you were talking about the old carb numbers. the new one has 80457-2 then underneith that it has 2172
another question do you know what size fitting is going to fit the new carb fuel intake
That is a 600 Holley. I have one myself. Holley makes the correct "Banjo fitting" Did you get this carb used? Mine came with that fitting already in it. It bolted into the side of the bowl and the hose nipple sticks out the front of the carb.
Any Holley Dealer should have the fitting.
You should have 3/8 factory fuel line so get a Fram G3 fuel filter. It comes with 2 short pieces of rubber line. I would get some screw type clamps though, it comes with 4 squeeze clamps, but I don't trust them.

i bought it new, i guess i might be missing peices, im working on it today so hopefully i can get my truck back on the road thanks for all your advise and ill let you know how i did.
I usually do, this will keep the nuts from digging into the aluminum base of the carb. Also, make sure that you tighten them down evenly. Like a wheel, go cross corner and don't overtighten it. I have seen the corners broken off before because they overtightened the carb. Good and snug is all you need. After you get it running and warmed up, you can retighten them again.

well i put the carb on, it runs great at idle, when i drive it a little bit and come to a stop it wants to idle at 2000, i hit the gas and it stays high, should i adjust anything on my new carb?
when i started the truck up it idled high, then i hit the gas to turn the high idle off, and it idled at around 1000rpms, after driving it i dont know what to do.
