Can anyone suggest to me what tuner to use on my EEC-IV? I have a 1995 F-250 with a tired stock 460 that is getting a 521 long block replacement. I'm told I will have to make some changes to the EEC. Also, anyone have any ideas where I can find the EEC on the truck. Is it the 5" x 7" silver box under the dash center/driversideish. it has a small plug on the drivers side, and a place to plug a plug in, (empty) on the passenger side.
Well I've learned so far there is no programmer for a 1995 F-250. The Truck has DOE0 computer code. Diablo makes a Delta chip that appears they will custom program for a DOE0. OH, and I found the EEC, it passes through the firewall at the drivers side kick panel. the DOE0 code is a sticker on the outside of the metal case.
SCT (Superchips Custom Tuning) makes several variations of tuning software and will work with just about any EEC IV ECM. It's a little pricy, but from what I've read, it's the best tuning software on the market right now.
Actually, the Diablo Revolution tunes far more parameters than the Superchips Custom. Costs a little more, but just like with the Predator.... you get more.
Both products can be used for burning a chip. Neither is end user software.
If you need to purchase a chip you should go with Diablo because Superchips has dropped all EEC-IV support.
Hey Ken, I've stroked and bored my 460 to a 521, added a 262 comp cam. the crank is zero ground, and the timing set is going to be pre 73. Because I live in CA, I'm using the Banks Exhaust, stock intake, stock fuel injection. My question is do you think with the stock settings in the ECM will run the engine? I'm looking at ordering a One stage diablo sport chip and order a custom program. If the stock ECM settings will run the engine, I'm thinking then it will pass smog. I'd have stock (smog day) setting, then a custom tuned setting. The computer code is a DOE0.
I will take delivery of the 521 long block mid January. The truck still has the tired stock 1995 460 in it.
Ken...when did they say they were droping EEC V support? I was looking at this; and they're showing that they have support for EEC IV & V with thier software available for individual users.
Superchips no longer supports EEC-IV. Superchips Custom is a completely different product, from a different company, that is licensed by Superchips, not aimed at the average end user. Superchips only provides existing EEC-IV tune files and is not creating new files. This has been posted on their BBS for a long time.

Can anyone add to this, thanks?

Hi 521. San Diego is the home front here. Are you in Cali? I am working on the same sort of project. My build is a 557 based on 460 with 292 cam. I am looking at using a 1996 Cali EEC V SFI controls to get by the cam and VE problems. No total success yet but have learned alot and received hundredes of E-mails looking for chips, total tuners and data on BBF's with EEC control. I have managed to get all the computer data out of the EEC and on my laptop where we can start tearing the code apart and modifying it. There is plenty of room in there to change stuff, 3 empty banks. I will keep you informed on our progress if we crack the code, and we will. Might be a market here. With the strong request we might field this cheap setup if we can master the code, and the code looks fairly simple. We used a basic stamp interface. We could sell this and the rom moder for about 50$. Way cheaper than all the other stuff out there and you can do it all yourself. No sending stuff back in for mods. You build, You mod, You race. No middleman.
P.S. We should be able to pass emissions with this setup when done. Will let you know after some dyno pulls.
