Baseball..........will you go back?

With the impending "work stoppage"(like playing ball for millions a year is work) in major league baseball, i was just wondering if yall will go back to the game if the strike happens. will any of you take sides? owners or players? how about the middle ground......NEITHER! do you think the game has been the same since the 94 strike? will it be worse or better after this one?

With the Yankees having more money to throw at players than god and players demanding astronomical saleries for lack-luster abilities(ie: A-rod) once they get the big contract, where does that leave us the fans? it leaves us with over payed players who care nothing about the quality of the game or the fans who love and support the team they play for. they only care about padding their stats so that when they become a free agent(or already are) they will get the most money they can. spare me the" this is america, if you can get it..take it" or " sure we make alot of money, but we also spend alot of money" CRAP. tell that to a family of four that has to spend over 200 bucks to see these multi-millionaires play a game. if i get hurt at work OR at home.......can i take a month or two off to "rehab" my injury.........HELL NO! do i have trainers looking after it,nope. lastnight a yankee player was taken down(cleanly)by a cleveland indian and imediatly had an MRI on his knee! i have something wrong with my brain(ive had three cat scans in two weeks) that doctors cant figure out and im still waiting to see a neauroulogist(three weeks now) just so he can schedual an MRI which may take a few more weeks to actually get me in! and im still working 12hr days till then. his knee........my BRAIN! i wonder what most folks would feel is more important.

if these cry-baby millionaires and the billionaires who employ them cant reach an agreement..........ill never go back

if these cry

I really wish people would stop supporting Pro athlete's and support the Kid's in Minor sports instead.

Close the leagues down > Tell ALL the NO BRAIN owner's & overpaid athlete's to hit the road.

You guys both hit it right! I do not watch professional sports anymore for those very reasons.

But I'd like to elaborate on what Dennis said.

If you want to see some fantastic sports action, go to your local high school games or little league.

My family goes to and supports our hometown football team. I have seen plays in these games that you don't see in the Super Bowl. Exciting doesn't begin to describe it! It's better because these kids are playing FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME, not the love of money.

I assistant coach my son's little league football team (6-9 year olds) and these little guys will have you on your feet! I love it! They are eager to learn and just one of them has more "heart" than an entire NFL team.

And who wouldn't stand up and cheer when one of the local kids you've been watching come up through the ranks puts one out of the park against the cross-town rivals? I'll bet nothing stirs the sports blood like that will.

Give it a try. You'll be glad you did!

Chuck

Baseball..........will you go back?

I know a guy who plays for a MLB team in New York. I can't believe that these people have any complaints about their jobs. I play roller hockey out here in So. Cal., not much ice around , but I have played ice hockey. I'm not the best skater, or the fastest, but I have great passing abilities and an accurate shot. I would settle for $40,000 dollars a year to play for the Boston Bruins. I know the league minumim is like $250,000 a year, I'd take the rest and donate it to charities for youth sports and FTE (I see Ken smiling now). Something productive for those not so lucky. Just to be able to play the best sport in the world. When was the last time a Hockey player was caught with a big stash of drugs, shot is girlfriend to death, or something else so stupid that it was at the top of the headlines of the sports section in the newspapers. Do I feel sorry for the pro atheletes who feel they aren't treated fair or what ever they're crying about.NO! They have enough money now to retire and start they're own business. That's for all sports. On a departing note, I can only say, Be Your Own Hero!

Baseball..........will you go back?

I am a huge baseball fan and I have loved the game for many years but one more strike could very well be the end of it for me. Its very hard to watch guys play a game that they get paid millions and millions of dollars for when I play purley for the love of the sport. Baseball hasn't been the same since 94 and I don't think ever will be the same if there is another strike.

Bruin's fan huh.

I'm going to send you a photo, via e-mail.

My Dad was scouted by the Bruin's because of a tip received by one of the (Well Know) players on this photo.
My Dad declined the offer telling them he wanted to raise a family and make something of himself back in Canada. This well know Bruin considered my Father to be the best defenseman he'd ever played with.Quite an honour.

My Dad is the third from the Right > Back row.
You won't believe what THREE famous players he played defense behind.

My Father at 84 thinks these Pro players of today are missing one really important thing."Heart"

Once you find out ,If you want to tell people who my Dad played with go ahead.

Well, it tokk a few years for me to start watching baseball after the last strike they had. I do enjoy watching the game but I think the players are overpaid for what they do. i like watching the teams with a small payroll do good (Twins) and enjoy when they beat teams with payrolls 2 to 3 times their's. If the player went on strike again I don't think I'd watch the game again.

I never was much of a baseball fan and strike or no strike really won't matter. I've help build a multimillion dollar stadium here in Milwaukee and have yet to be in the parking lot. Taxes, taxes, taxes and now they are doing the same frickin' thing in Green Bay. Just to keep up with the rest of the league. Sure I'll support it I have little choice where to shop but actually go to any games or watch on TV, never. My father in law has tickets for both the Brewers and Packers. He knows better than to ask if I would like to go.

Hey all. just my thoughts. I would rather pay to see our kids little league teams play ball, than see pro ball actors spit, on each other, throw fits, start fights because they did not get their way. Some have the world at there feet and dont know, or care. Get a real job, in the real world. Please be good sports at the games. Remember the children in the game, each will have to wear the others shoes at one time or another. Support them all, and your child will be covered.

Dave makes a very good point when he mentions kids and the pros in the same sentence. These over paid, under-acheiving crybabies ruin the sport. Kids are out there for the love of the game, and they truly enjoy the competition. They'll play hurt or tired, it doesn't matter to them. It seems the pros should be modeling themselves after the kids, not the other way around. When a professional basketball player says he's no role model, all I can say is "yer damn straight you aint."

Baseball has been tainted for me since the last strike, and I have about lost interest. I watch the playoffs and the World Series. If they strike again, forget em. There will always be kids playin down on the corner sandlot just for the love of the game.

Ron

I haven't watched a single game, including the World Series, since the last strike and have no intention to start now. Don't miss it one bit.

Baseball..........will you go back?

My thoughs are.
1 Baseball needs a salary cap.
2 baseball needs to impeach bud
3 needs random drug testing

I think its somewhat funny with the brewers they got the stadium and draw lots of fans the first year and now to the best of my knowledge the Twins have better attendance this year. Go figure.

And lets not even talk about the yankees we all know what they do.

Did anyone see what Hunter just did stole a Bonds homerun?

I quit watching professional sports about thirty years ago, when the players turned into whiny brats. From what I've read here, I'm not the only one, either. The millionaire kids won't get another dime out of me, and I also hate when the media calls them "HEROES." They are not heroes in any sense of the word.
