If you had the charcoal cannister and the other junk, does that mean it came with cc's, I don't know, I figured it would but im not sure...... Terror alert just been raised to high, looking for an attack on a number of cities; ny d.c. pa. and some other ones i didnt catch.
Has Cat, Unleaded on Gas Guage, Large opening in Gas Tank filler. Pressurized Gas Cap; Air Pump and check valves for air on heads. PVC, EGR, and Vapor Canister. At recent Ohio E-check; they tested pressure hold on Gas Cap, Visual for Converter; and a 35-40 mph Dyno test. It passed and on January 1, 2004 no more tests: it will be 25 years old.
Smog check issue here in CA is somewhat confusing. My '78 F250 with 460 engine came with all the emissions equip. installed(air pump, EGR, Cat. Conv, dual carbon canisters Etc). All that stuff is still there, because I bought the truck three tears ago, and all vehicles in our area must pass an emissions check when registered, and it passed the test at that time. It has a GVWR of 7700 Lbs. The emissions law here states that starting in 2004, the exemption will be at 30 years, and will start to track at that time( as in 2005, the exemption increases 1 year). Up to this year, anything prior to 1973 was exempt. Sorry to go on so long, but I have found that there is a widespread belief that the exemption will remain at 25 years, and that is not the case. For example, my '78 will not be exempt until 2008. Drat!
I'm moving up to blairesville in october 04', i'm goin to wyotech their and after reading this thread i'm scared crapless.I've got no emissions anything, no mufflers, cats, egr, pcv, air pump, NADA!!!you think i could i keep it registered in florida and keep my florida liscence?I hope so, you know florida has no inspections or emission control, every 3rd vehicle you see down here is running straight pipe(and half of them are cops).if i have to register it in pa, what's their exempt. laws, cause my truck will be 27 years old then.

If you are keeping your residence in Florida, and only staying in PA as student, you will be able to keep your truck lisenced in Florida. BUT if you are becoming a permant resident of PA you will need to get a PA drivers lisence, reg, ins, etc. You will still need to watch the noise from running no mufflers and the obvious stuff like no fenders, hood, etc. I believe PA's cut off for emissions is 1973....
I think they care more about the money than the whole pollution and emission aspect, but hey when you make a decent buck like these yuppies are making you dont have to drive around in a 78f150, me, i wouldn't have it any other way!
Lucky to live in Siskiyou county in Northern California. Most of California has smog checks every other year. But where I live, you need to have a smog from the previous owner, and then when you sell it, it needs to be smogged again. But if you drive it till the wheels fall off, they don't check, unless maybe you get pulled over or something like that. I am not sure that the local law enforcement look for non-CARB parts or missing smog equipment.
