Can anyone help withthis non F150 problem? I have a 1993 Aerostar that will not start. The ignition (key) switch is very loose and at times will not receive the key or jams up. We keep the key in it at all times. I have had it towed to the shop and he could find nothing wrong with it because it started every time for two days. We drove it home, drove it for two days and now it will not start again. We have an appt. to have the swith replaced, but I have a hard time acceptingthat the thing wont start just because of that. The ending cranks every time but just won't start. Any thoughts?
You mean the starter turns but it won't turn over the engine? Is the sound like "whirr" noise? If so, it is probably the starter gear is worn out or the flywheel gear is worn out but I would suspect it is the starter itself.
Your key might be worn itself. Do you have a duplicate key? If you make a duplicate of your key now then it would not be the same like the original because the new copy will have the same worn edges of the key. Ford Dealer can get you an original key for it.
