After reading the instructions to rebuild one (in my shop manual) I decided to replace mine. At $129 plus core from autozone, you cannot go far wrong. The one I got looks very good, nice and tight. Haven't driven it far yet, so cannot comment on durability. But I'd venture to say its better than I could have done myself.
Oh, just in case you are curious -- 65 and 68 have the same manual steering gear (as well as a lot of other stuff, thus my presence here in this forum)
